Message from the Organizers and Benefactors

  • The Wings of Golf event benefits all Hendricks County United Way agencies that provide programs and services in Hendricks County. The dollars raised from the outing are placed into the Hendricks County Community Impact Fund and helps fund all agencies that provide programs in our County. All dollars raised are credited towards the County campaign goal each year. Such agencies as Sheltering Wings, Hendricks County Senior Services, Mental Health Association, Sycamore Services, Visiting Nurses Association, Red Cross, Salvation Army, YMCA, Day Nursery, and others receive a portion of the Wings of Golf proceeds. Each year County agencies receive several pots of money from the United Way. These agencies receive funding from the Community Impact Fund, then there are designated dollars from workplace campaigns, and they have access to a Capital Management Fund, a Technology Fund, a Winter Assistance Fund, and a Facility Management Fund.

  • The goal of the event is to provide a fun day of golf for the golfers, guests, and volunteers with 100 % of the proceeds from the event being donated to the Hendricks County United Way campaign. The Wings of Golf is considered to be the kickoff for the annual Hendricks County United Way campaign. Every dollar contributed by each participant and volunteer goes to the Hendricks County United Way agencies and is used by the agencies to provide countless needed services to thousands of Hendricks County residents on an annual basis. In the six years since the Wings of Golf was created the event has been able to raise over $400,000 for the Hendricks County United Way agencies.

  • In 2008 over 49,000 Hendricks County residents used the United Way agencies and services through 49 different agencies. Hendricks County actually receives more benefits for the residents than funds raised on an annual basis. The goal annually is to close the gap between funds raised and costs of programs used.

  • The dollars for these funds are provided by individuals like you who are donating to the United Way annually. The 2009 Hendricks County campaign goal is $863,000 and in 2008 the Hendricks County United Way raised over $862,000. For example an agency such as Sheltering Wings received the following from the 2008 campaign effort: Community Impact Fund - $67,242 and from the Designated Workplace Campaign - $94,002.

  • This event is hosted and offered by the Hendricks County Tourism Commission, d/b/a Hendricks County CVB (HCCVB). The name and logo is the property of the HCCVB and the event is supervised and coordinated by the Executive Committee for Wings of Golf, along with the 100 plus community volunteers serving on the Wings of Golf Committee. The HCCVB strives to promote Hendricks County as a destination in addition to ensuring a great quality of life for our residents. Since 2003 the HCCVB and the Wings of Golf Committee have supported this event which benefits all of Hendricks County and Central Indiana.
